I accept press trips if they focus on my areas of interest and expertise. Small groups or solo travel is fine with me. If you can only cover the land portion of a trip, most often that is not an issue. I have the budget to cover my own flights.
I will also go to a destination entirely at my own expense if there is a compelling story to write about or a major event of interest to me.
I do not write ‘sponsored’ content or accept a trip if I must guarantee a positive story. My articles will always be a truthful and accurate portrayal of a place or event.
I do not write about places I have not visited. A press release to me will never result in a story if I have not travelled there and experienced what there is to offer.

On occasion I will write about products. In my past spa column, I had a section “Bring home the spa” that covered beauty, spa and health products. In my past wine and spirits columns I wrote thousands of reviews on those products. I do not have a review column in print for products at the moment. However, I will review pertinent products in my area of expertise for social media if they are sent to me and are worthy of recommendation. I do not accept money for my recommendations. If I think the product is fantastic, I might well include it in an article. You do not have to ‘pay to play’ with me.
